Montevideo – Failure to appear at the 2006 World Cup has been redeemed Uruguay. Former double world champion was able to overcome Costa Rica in the playoff game and make sure their self off to South Africa next year.

In the Zone qualifying round of South America, Uruguay finish in fifth place and the opportunity to play a playoff against the fourth ranked team CONCACAF zone. For Costa Rica, this failure to stop their achievements always appear in the last two World Cup.
