Raul, Giggs and Totti the Prince of their club
Madrid – The name of Raul Gonzalez Blanco in Real Madrid might like Ryan Giggs at Manchester United or Francesco Totti at AS Roma. Their all are icon club, but different fate.
Ryan Joseph Giggs, born in Cardiff, Wales, 36 years ago is a midfielder who already qualify for Manchester United legend. He started his career from the Academy of The Red Devils, Giggs signed Manchester United first team in 1990 when she was only 17 years old.
Formerly he was famous for its speed in the left wing side, which makes it the ability often seen snaking through the opponent. This capability then decreases with age. Slowly, Giggs was again placed as the left wing. Later, Sir Alex Ferguson more uses him as a midfielder.
Other things, there are many younger players who could fill the position left wing, take the example of Nani. However, although many players come and go, Giggs undisturbed position to sue. He did not always play as a starting eleven, but he still got a place in the main squad MU.
In the eyes of Sir Alex, Giggs role now is not only as a player in the field. As one of the senior players, the manager is often asked to provide advice on strategy games.
“I’ve known her since the age of 12 years. So, my perspective has changed from a kid who looked up to him, being a seasoned player that he was talking to, to become someone he turn to for an opinion for some players and situations,” said Giggs.
No changes for Giggs at Manchester United’s position is similar to what happened with Totti in Rome. As a ‘Prince Club‘, maintained his position even though there are many new players arriving.
Even in December 2009 ago, the Romans put a stop to four-year contract extension with him. Though age is not young Totti, ie 33 years.
Rarely have a club that gave such a long contract extension for a player over 30 years. Giggs himself even rumored to only get a one-year contract every season.
What happens to Giggs and Totti slightly different for Raul.
Indeed, Madrid has offered a contract “for life” to him and Iker Casillas. The contract was extended by one year every season. However, for Raul, not for this season.
After his service for 15 years at the club was nicknamed Los Merengues, he chose to quit. Madrid has now unlike when he was young. Bejubel Madrid, now with a row of star players that they got the nickname Los Galacticos. Fuss, star players were much younger than him – let’s say Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema to Gonzalo Higuain.
Raul knows himself. It’s hard for him to gain a place in the direction of Jose Mourinho’s squad. He was still feeling confident can play well this season, but in the end he “conceded” as well.
“It’s not about not playing. I can not say for sure, but I believe it can play well this season. I’ve talked to coach and he said he wanted me to stay here, but I wanted to do something different.”
“It was a tough day for me, one of the toughest in his career. I’ll never forget you.”
And now, Raul leave the Bernabeu.
