Manchester United without Rooney against Bolton

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWayne Rooney is missed at England’s football against Belarus on Wednesday because of a calf injury. And the same problem will keep him out of the Old Trafford tie with Bolton tomorrow.

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson said: “Calf injuries can be troublesome. We are trying our best to get him fit for next Wednesday but I have my doubts on that. But he should be fit for the Liverpool game.”

“We know how difficult these things can be so we will not be taking any chances with the Moscow trip.”

Edwin van der Sar is set to replace Ben Foster after back from his injury.

Ferguson said again: “Edwin will plays tomorrow. He had a reserve game 10 days ago and has come through that fine. He has been training for quite a spell now but with a hand injury you don’t take any chances and that game has given him a good confidence boost.”

Dimitar Berbatov is doubtful for the match after his wife gave birth in Bulgaria yesterday. He is yet to return to Manchester and Ferguson is unsure if he is in the right frame of mind to play.

But, fellow striker Michael Owen is fit after a groin problem.
